Brief of Laser Tube Cutting Machine Wattsan Nova

Laser Pipe Cutting Machine Wattsan Nova

The Wattsan Nova is a tube laser cutting machine featuring three chucks and a standard swivel laser head. It excels in accurately cutting round, square, rectangular, oval tubes, as well as channel steel, L-steel, and angle steel. This machine is capable of processing carbon steel, stainless steel, copper, aluminum alloy tubes, and other metallic materials.

It comes with standard options for maximum pipe lengths of 6, 9, or 12 meters and supports diameters up to 360 mm. Additionally, users can choose between semi-automatic and automatic tube loading systems.

  • Front, back and center chucks

A distinctive feature of Wattsan Nova is the presence of 3 pneumatic clamping chucks (front, back and center). The chucks rotate synchronously and move synchronously or individually.

The design of the machine is designed for reliable fixation of thick-walled pipes with a diameter of up to 360 mm, weighing up to 1500 kg (the machine can be equipped with chucks of the appropriate diameters).

  • Protective cabin

The protective cabin ensures safe operation and eliminates contamination. The viewing window is made of special protective glass according to European CE standards.

The smoke generated by cutting passes through the filter system inside the cabin, thus providing an environmentally friendly cutting without polluting the external environment.

  • Servo Follow-up

The auxiliary support is controlled by an independent servo motor to move up and down, mainly to perform auxiliary support for excessive deformation of long cut pipes. Especially for small diameter pipes. When the rear chuck is moved to the appropriate position, the auxiliary support can be lowered to avoiance.

  • Servo motors Yaskawa

The Wattsan tube cutter is equipped with Yaskawa servo motors. The advantages of servo motors include: 2 times increased reliability margin, easy replacement in case of breakdown, minimal vibration, lightweight design, acceleration up to 0.8G and max chuck rotation speed up to 100 r/min.

  • Bevel cutting up to 45 degrees

The Wattsan NOVA equipped with a swivel cutting head for cutting pipes and punching holes up to 45 degrees.

This function is indispensable for the subsequent welding of butt-to-butt pipes, beveled pipes, short pipes, products connected with fixing bolts. Will increase the demand for products and increase the range of machined parts.

  • Fluoroplastic supports
  • Standard

To prevent the pipe from swinging during the cutting process, 3 pneumatic fluoroplastic supports are implemented on the main body of the machine. They provide reliable and precise positioning of the workpiece.
  • Fluoroplastic supports

At the front, the pipe cutter can be equipped with a finished goods receiving unit designed for directional, ergonomic unloading of workpieces at a safe height. This block can also be equipped with two fluoroplastic supports. This option is optional and is used in the case of cutting longer pipes, to intensively dampen vibrations during processing and maintain a high quality of cutting.

Laser head for your tasks

Wattsan metal cutters are equipped with laser heads from popular manufacturers such as Raytools, BOCI and Precitec.

    1. QBH connector

      QBH connector

It is the link between the fiber optic cable and laser head. It prevents beam return thus protecting the laser source.

    2. Collimator module

      Collimator module

Is is used for narrowing and adjusting the laser beam. It makes the laser beam suitable for further transmission to the focusing module. It should not be replaced more or less than once a year.

    1. Focusing module with position controller

      Focusing module with position controller

Dynamically adjusts focal distance during operation to ensure deep and quality cuts.

    2. Protective glasses

      Protective glasses

Protective glasses protect expensive focusing optics against dust, dirt and sparks. The upper glass is rarely replaced. The lower protective glass is the main consumable.

    3. Induction sensor

      Induction sensor

It maintenances the correct nozzle height above the material which ensures a stale cut regardless of material curvature.

    1. Ceramic nozzle adapter

      Ceramic nozzle adapter

It protects the cutting head from heat generated during laser cutting.

    2. Nozzle

Ensures that the gas jet and laser beam are aligned for a better cut.

Experiences from enthusiastic bloggers

  • I’m extremely happy with the device! Its powerful reinforced frame reduces wobbling which is perfect for engraving at high speeds. I’ve been using it for acrylic glass and the results look really cool.

Ask questions

  • A fiber-optic laser is best suited for cutting metal, but a specially equipped CO2 laser with a high-power laser tube may also be suitable for this purpose. However, it should be borne in mind that the thickness of the metal for cutting with a CO2 laser is limited to 1.5 mm, while a fiber-optic laser is capable of cutting up to 25 mm.

  • The cost of an hour of laser cutting depends not only on the power of the laser machine and the speed of its operation, but also on a number of other factors, such as: the professional skills of the machine operator, the cost of renting a production room, the cost and consumption of electricity, the cost of the material itself, the amount of scrap and downtime of the machine, and much more. In order to unambiguously answer the question about the cost of an hour of laser cutting, it is necessary to take into account all these parameters.

  • A focused laser beam is applied to the metal surface, as a result of which it melts, the molten material is blown out of the cutting zone with the help of an auxiliary gas.

  • The power of the laser emitter depends on the thickness of the material being processed and the desired processing speed. For example, a 1 kW emitter will cut 1 mm thick stainless steel at a speed of 13 m/min, and a 3 kW emitter will cut the same material at a speed of about 35 m/min. Here everything depends on the budget and the expediency of using the maximum possible capacity. Although it can be said that in today's competitive realities it does not make sense to buy a laser machine with a power of less than 1 kW.
